Friday night in Songea

Spent the night in Songea last night. We made it to town around 4pm...just in time to see the Songea Girls A level school take on another secondary school (of boys) in basketball, netball, and volleyball. It was quite the event for the school, with most of the rest of the girls standing on the sidelines around the court watching!

After the game, Charlie and I joined Ariel and some of the other teachers for a pick-up game against each other, and then also against the girls. This morning we went back to the Songea Bakery to hang out for a bit, and then to a great little place to eat called supercaf where you can order "hamburgers" it has been a good weekend so far. The only minor mishap of the trip came when we were coaxed onto a smaller bus for the ride home and the trip from Songea to Hanga ( about 40km0 took just over an hour (!!) and there were 25+ people in one small little dala dala...and 1/2 way through the trip my window fell out, literally, so i had a nice breeze in my face for the rest of the trip. but we made it back to Hanga, which is the important part. :)

Tomorrow will be a nice day of relaxing after Mass...maybe doing some reading...and perhaps planting some flowers in the flowerbeds outside of the hostel.
good night for now.
